The way we see marriage!
This is a question that I asked myself many times over and I can honestly say that it has taken me 21 years to even scratch the surface of what it means to be a faith filled husband . Marriage is on of the most rewarding and amazing covenants that a person can enter. It is also one of the hardest to get right. Let’s take look at what marriage is to most people. It’s where you go to the court house get a marriage license and find someone to do the ceremony which is a very wordy and simplistic way to see it yet many people view it as just that a piece of paper that joins two people together in a contract to benefit each on separately. This view leads to a low priority for the majority of marriages hence the high divorce rate.
What marriage really is!
Now let’s take a min to look at what marriage really is. Marriage should not to be taken lightly. It is one of the most important relationships that a Man and Woman can enter into. First, it is ordained by God and not by man. God laid the ground work and a marriage is an example of Christ and the Church. It is two people one man and one woman coming together to form on unit to worship God together. the Bible gives us examples of the structure of marriage. This may offend some people but honestly I don’t care.
The structure of marriage and mens role!
Scripture lays out for us the model of what marriage should look like. The husband should lead, the wife supports the husband and he loves and cherishes her, and the children obey the parents. NOTICE what I said THE HUSBAND LEADS this is where it all falls apart men we have to step up and be men!!!! First and foremost we have to lead in our homes. Society for the vast majority of my life has down played the roles of husbands on the sitcoms we are seen as idiots and lazy. Men are view in this world as bad and masculinity is label as toxic. Honestly I can see why that view is prevalent in society we let it. When I see 40 year old men acting like boys not working to support their families or putting themselves first or when I see men treat women like objects instead of like gifts from God. I can understand why. Men we have to stand up and take accountability for our role in this failure we have to lead. in the next few weeks I’m going to try and break this down and I will give you my account of how God showed me that I wasn’t being a faith filled husband.
